Way back when we first started The Plot Bunnies, I made a quick review of a little show that had just started, but that I felt was going to be awesome. And here we are, two years later. While Adventure Time enters its seventh season and Gravity Falls comes to an end, Steven Universe wins more and more people by the minute. It seems like while it didn’t get the attention it deserved during its first year of existence, audiences are now discovering the many qualities of this little gem (GET IT). I couldn’t be happier. Steven Universe, created by the wonderful Rebecca Sugar, has everything I’ve ever looked for in a kid’s show, like music and badass ladies. And Lion.
At the Plot Bunnies, we love awesome things. Steven Universe is awesome. So it makes sense that we want to share our love of Steven Universe with you guys.
When Anais first suggested Steven Universe, I had no idea what she was talking about or what to expect. Now, I LIVE FOR THIS SHOW. I play the songs on my uke, I tell everyone about it, I make gem fan art, and figure out what gems fuse to make my friends…
(Anais is totally a Ruby-Amethyst-Lapis Lazuli)
Steven Universe is not just a cute cartoon. It’s social commentary. It pushes our media portrayal of gender and sexuality to where they belong, on a spectrum. The show is hilarious, honest, and heart breaking. The feels! THE FEELS!! And also, Lion.
So, Anais and I are going to start watching Steven from the beginning again, and write about each episode together. Fused.
OH MY GOD WE WOULD MAKE AN AMAZING FUSION LET’S CALL HER AZURITE
Join us next week for the Steven Universe Pilot!
